In January of 1950, Herb Miller started his plumbing career by working for James Toler out of Cleveland, Georgia.
Atlanta was a young and growing city. In late 1953, at age 25,
Herb Miller started his own plumbing business in Atlanta installing the plumbing
systems in new single-family homes. The business grew with the city. Over
time, the Miller team became specialized in multi-family construction. With
excellent customers, the help of his family, and the best plumbers in Atlanta,
the business thrived.
Herb Miller served two terms as President of the Georgia Association of Plumbing Heating
and Cooling Contractors, now known as the Plumbing and Mechanical Association of Georgia. He has twice
been awarded "Contractor of the Year." Active in the National Association of
PHCC for over 35 years, Herb played a key role on the committee that created the NAPHCC, the National Apprenticeship Program,
in the 1980's.
Eddie Miller grew up in the business working summers and weekends alongside his father and soon he was running jobs on his own.
Eddie earned his Georgia Master Plumber's license and soon moved into the management side of the business, developing close
working relationships with Miller's old customers and many new ones. Expanding the business and its territories, Eddie
went on to earn his Master licenses in the states of Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Texas.
Following in his father's footsteps, Eddie has also served as President of the local PHCC Association and the Georgia PHCC.
A member of BBB, the Atlanta Apartment Association, NAPHCC,
PMA of Georgia, Atlanta Metro PHCC, Associated Builders and
Contractors of Georgia,
Miller Mechanical was honored by the Apartment Association for
it's continued support for over 25 years. Several of the
builders and developers we work with today have been customers
for over 35 years. The company has twice been named "Contractor
of the Year" by
Post Properties.
Over the years, the installation of new construction plumbing
systems has represented the majority of the company's activity.
Miller Mechanical installed the plumbing systems in several restoration projects,
including that of a historical site in downtown Nashville, Tennessee,
apartments
in Washington, D.C., and a historic bread factory in Hyde Park,
Tampa, Florida.
In the 1990's, in order to serve a larger area of the country, Miller
Mechanical was sold to a national contracting and engineering company,
AMPAM. Eddie Miller served as an executive of this multi-million dollar
national company for many years.
In 2004, the company that began as Miller Mechanical, became Miller Mechanical Contractors and Engineers, LLC.
Projects have included everything from the most basic apartments
and houses to parking deck structures, student housing, retirement
and "independent
living" communities. They also include schools, banks, hotels and
motels, mixed-use projects with residential and retail space,
and high rise buildings. Everything from "stick frame" to "tunnel form," from
concrete to steel. Miller Mechanical Contractors and Engineers,
LLC utilizes its CAD Department in the initial
design stages through the final "as-built" documents. Our teams
have the equipment and the expertise to complete the work "in-house," from
the excavation process through "punch out."
The mission of Miller Mechanical Contractors and Engineers, LLC
is to become the premier plumbing contracting company in the Southeastern
United States, designing, installing and maintaining products of excellence and quality.
The company seeks to provide these services in the timeliest manner
with an ongoing comprehensive quality Control program to provide
100% customer satisfaction. The company's management sees each
contract as an agreement, not just between a business and its
customers, but between partners that wish to create a close
and mutually beneficial long-term
relationship. This will help to provide long-term profits through
referrals and repeat business.
We intend to insure a secure and
stable environment for the company's employees. Each individual
is encouraged to continually refine his expertise and grow
in his craft, reaching his full potential.
Miller Mechanical Contractors and Engineers, LLC is proud of
its history, our employees and the work we've done over the
years. We are excited about the future, the work and the growth
that lie ahead.
